Frequently Asked Questions
Does The Music School offer trial lessons? What does a typical first lesson look like?
Yes! We offer trial lessons so your child can meet their instructor and experience a lesson before enrolling in regular classes.
During your child's first lesson, their teacher will take time to get to know them, introduce them to the instrument, and learn about their interests, goals, and current experience level. This helps us create a personalized learning plan that matches your child's age, abilities, and musical interests. Our goal is to make the first lesson fun, encouraging, and a great start to their musical journey.
Is my child too young to start music lessons? Do you teach adults?
At The Music School, we typically begin private lessons with children as young as five years old. If you're unsure whether your child is ready, we'd be happy to help you determine the best time to get started.
We also welcome teens and adults of all experience levels—from complete beginners to advanced musicians. Whether you're enrolling your child or finally taking lessons yourself, our instructors provide personalized instruction to help every student learn, grow, and enjoy making music.
Do I need my own piano/musical instrument?
Yes. We recommend that every student have access to their own instrument at home so they can practice between lessons. Regular practice is an important part of building confidence, developing new skills, and making steady progress.
Do students participate in recitals? Are there competitions, festivals, or examinations available? Do students earn certificates or awards?
Yes! At The Music School, students have many opportunities to celebrate their progress and share their love of music. We host regular recitals throughout the year, giving students the chance to build confidence and perform in a fun, supportive environment.
For students who are interested in taking their musical journey even further, we also offer opportunities to participate in competitions, festivals, and music examinations. These experiences can help students set meaningful goals, gain valuable performance experience, and, in many cases, earn certificates, awards, and other forms of recognition for their achievements.
How long are lessons?
We offer weekly lessons in 30-, 45-, or 60-minute sessions, depending on age, experience level, and individual goals. If you're unsure which lesson length is the best fit, we're happy to help you choose the option that will provide the most enjoyable and successful learning experience.
